Christchurch Travel

Do you want to know where to go in Christchurch? Well you have came to the right place I'm going to tell you some of the best places in central Christchurch. First off if your looking for a good place to stay I say go to Omaka Scout Camp not only it's a great camp with heaps of enjoyable, family friendly equipment it is really close to Christchurch. First I suggest you go to the botanic gardens and see the conservatory with all the pretty flowers. Next up you should go to the Art Gallery and go up stairs and get lost in amazing artwork. Then I suggest you go to the Tram at stop 10 and get off at stop 17 and go to the Margaret Mahy Playground it's a great place for the kids and parents to hang out it's state of the art toilets and equipment. Next go back to stop 17 and get off at stop 4 and look at the Bridge Of Remembrance, this is a good place to have lunch because of the Re-Start mall. Then I think you should go to Quake City and learn about the 2011 earthquake and other earthquakes another cool thing at Quake City is the make your own earthquake. Then if your up for a walk you can go to the Cardboard Cathedral and see all the cardboard cylinders. Also you could go to the Canterbury Museum and go through time and then to top it all a lovely walk through the Botanic Gardens.

Book review

In the last few weeks I have been reading Uncollected Volume one by Paul Jennings. It's a great book a great way to past the time and get lost in a book and the great thing is that it's not just one book it's 16 short story's in one book! The story's range from happy to sad but they always make you smile. Overall I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My speech!

On Tuesday Team East had to do their speeches but unfortunately I was terribly sick so I did it on Thursday, my speech was about Antarctica (the video is below) I chose this topic because I always liked Antarctica but Antarctica was such a big fan topic so I narrowed it down to why I chose the topic what I'll do in Antarctica, what to take and how to get there.

High Ropes Day

High Ropes Day
On Friday the 3rd of June all the year 8s went to the Groins to complete a William Pike challenge. When we arrived I was feeling extremely excited about climbing but also feeling nervous because I am a bit afraid of heights. I don't know why but I feel more comfortable and safe climbing trees without a harness but get very nervous and I sorta get frozen in place when I stop climbing on a climbing wall with a harness.

But now I know what you're thinking “come on how high can it be??” Well…… The answer to that is very high, very very very high and all four of the climbing walls are the same height. The names of the four walls are the giant ladder, the vertical play pen, the floating islands, the horizontal pole (I call it the angle pole because it was on a angle) and last but definitely not least the Flying Kiwi.

My most proud moment was when me and my friends/teammates got past a certain point on the giant ladder when Hayato (who is terribly afraid of heights) couldn't get onto the next pole and I had to get Hayato onto my knee so he could climb up and the poles are not very wide and so I almost fell off the whole ladder, after Hayato got up to the next pole he wanted to come down so then it was just Benj and I on our own.

Clubs

Clubs Day.

On Friday the 27th of May Loburn School had clubs day, we have this every Friday, I got put into Coding and Robotics, the one I wanted! The reason I wanted this one is because I have been doing some coding before school on a thing called Scratch, it is this website where you put some codes in and the thing (people, animals, cars ETC.) moves how you programed it.

When I first thought about Coding I thought that it would be me working alone or with lots of kids that I will have to help and not get to do anything on my own work. But luckily I was wrong and in fact I was working with a group of people and on my own work. I think that we all had a great time even when we were on ScratchJR a app made for younger kids or kids who don’t understand Scratch but it was really FUN!

The most enjoyable part was seeing the faces on the little kids when they see their character move around and talked. The most interesting part was seeing how everyone will work together and how they will share the Ipads and react to ScratchJR.

My goal for this Friday is to finish my Scratch and try out a new app called Hopscotch and maybe make a thing on that. If you want to try Scratch or anything else I have said. You should try it now!

X Country

X Country

On Wednesday the 18th of May it was Loburn schools X Country day. When I arrived I had a very bad surprise…… I had got stung by a Bee and I quickly pulled it out and it didn't swell much, I was lucky. After that Harry and I spent our time playing with my puppy, Regin. And we were cheering for other people.

Before I know it Harry my year 7 friend was lining up to run the 2.5 km race and I was standing that the border of tape cheering him on. Then the year 8 girls were on the start line and next minute I was there myself and the clapper, clapped and I was of running faster than I should be but then slowed to a pasted jog. The hardest part about the race for me was running up the hill and running down the hill. The best part (apart from the finish) was running in the forest.

As I ran around the last lap I almost got pasted Jack but then he……. well he ran away and at that point I made a promise to myself and that was to beat Jack in tri schools if I got there. And then I pasted the finish line

ANZAC Presentation.

Here is my ANZAC presentation. I made this with Benj it is about aircraft carriers and seafires. We chose this topic because I was interested in the Navy and Benj was interested in the Air Force.
I am sorry about the explain everything if it sounds rushed, when I came to post it I could not find it so I had to make a new one. Enjoy.

Mt Richardson

Mt Richardson

On Friday the 13th Loburn School seniors climbed Mt Richardson. The Year 8’s had to do it because it was one of our WPCA (William Pike Challenge Award) challenges. My favorite part of the climb was going back down and seeing the scenic views. My overall favorite part was talking to my friends and trying the honey from the trees. My least favorite part of the tramp is the tramp up and the next two days after, the reason why I didn’t love the walk up was because of the feeling I got in my knees but it was all worth it went we got to the top because one, you get this amazing view of the sea and the west coast and two, you now know your on your way down. On the way down my best friend Harry and I pretend that we were soldiers left behind to fend for ourselves, I know what you're thinking “why are you doing this?” we did that to past time and it worked and before we know it we are on the easy path to the end of the climb. I’m sad and happy about not doing this next year. I’m sad because I don’t do this at High school and I’m happy because I don’t get that pain in my knees. If you are thinking about climbing Mt Richardson I say go and do it!

PAINTBALL!!!

On Sunday the 8 of May I went to Hugh's birthday party and we went Paint balling at Mcleans island in my team I had Benj, Harry, Alex, Jack and me. (Riely) In the first game my team won but the thing is Harry and I ran out of bullets at the start and then Harry got shot and I was on my own trying to kill the other team with no bullets so I made a dash for a tree a 100 meters away, as I was running Lachlan (other team) was shooting at me but missed (thank goodness) and I got to the tree with the other teams whistle 50 meters away but just as I was feeling hope full, I get shot in the back by Lachlan.
